About the Education & Training Committee

EWB-NY connects our love of engineering with our belief in the value of education and knowledge sharing Education_pic.jpgthrough the Education Committee.  The mission of the Education Committee is to provide opportunities for our members to share engineering expertise and skills with local students through various ways:

  • Delivering formalized lessons and educational content that meets NY state curriculum standards (developed in a partnership with EWB-USA, ASCE and ASME)
  • Delivering formal or informal lectures and discussions in classrooms
  • Serving as mentors or facilitators in science and math events in NYC (events run by local partner organizations)
  • Speaking at career fairs

The Education Committee also actively encourages continuing education for our own professional and college chapter members.  In 2013, the New York Professionals Chapter planned a series of workshops focusing on Water/Sanitation/Hygiene (WASH) technologies.

There are always new ways to engage the local student community and get them excited about engineering as a career – we’re interested in hearing your ideas!  Please contact education@ewbny.org for information about how to get involved, or just come to our next General Body Meeting to hear more!
