It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for the Usalama team. We’ve had two very successful events, raised about $4000, received final travel approval, and our first travel team for this trip will be in Usalama in a week!
We’d like to thank our supporters for helping us get this far, and promise to keep the momentum going. Your support will soon take the form of a new tank, among a new pump, piping, and water treatment in Usalama.
On Thursday, August 3rd, we had a great turnout to our technical lecture co-hosted by ASCE. Project co-lead Anh Nguyen presented on our project background, design and challenges, while team mentor Matt Sisul presented on his experience working in construction in Haiti. Many thanks to ASCE for co-hosting, to URS for lending us the venue, and all our participants for attending!
Saturday, August 5th was a blast for everyone at the Thirsty Elephant, where we were generously supported by Hazen & Sawyer, Sid’s Bikes, MPHC Climbing Gym, CW&T, Whole Foods, Brooklyn Brewery; Venmo for an amazing venue, Chef Arno Pareja for food, and DJ Winslow Porter for the dance party. Big thanks to all of them, and everyone that night for being part of possibly the Most Fun Party Ever.
